2018 was one of the toughest years for me and my family- we saw one of the most important people in our lives be diagnosed with, suffer through and eventually pass away from brain cancer. More than just an Uncle, Brian was one of the most incredible people I have ever known; kind-hearted and humorous under his tough exterior. Although sometimes difficult to understand, those that knew him had a friend forever and would grow to love his stubborn personality. During his time as a sufferer of brain cancer, he was always brave and the only thing he would ever complain about was that they wouldn't let him out of hospital so he could drive his tractors. The Mark Hughes Foundation within the entirety of this time was an incredible support; providing a care coordinator whom greatly assisted in ensuring high quality care regardless of his rural location. Additionally, the foundation provides funding for research into ideally finding a cure. In showing my gratitude for all that they have done, I have decided to fundraise for the foundation through running the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon 2019. To aid me in helping them, it would be immensely appreciated if you are able to give whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. Alternatively, please spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. 48 is far too young for someone as incredible as Brian to be taken from the world, but hopefully we can work towards a future where brain cancer no longer exists! Thank you in advance.
